I’m Roya Haidari, a photographer and visual storyteller

My journey started in Afghanistan where I was born. Through my lens, I seek to share the unspoken narratives, the resilience of individuals, and the beauty that emerges from even the darkest corners. My passion is in stories that illuminate the human experience.

While in Afghanistan, I have been honored to work with top news outlets such as the Middle East Eye, CBS, Al Jazeera and NGOs such as UNHCR, GIZ, WHO, Save the Children, UNESCO and I have appeared in various documentary and feature films. My goal has always been to give Afghan women a voice, especially those in rural areas. To share their story I have traveled all over Afghanistan to photograph and share their stories.

I was exiled to Paris in August 2021 where I worked with leading figures in the art community. During this period I had the opportunity to complete my residency at the renowned Cité Internationale des Arts. Additionally, I was honored to share my photos at various exhibitions such as Vantage Point in UEA, Photo festival d’Aubrac, for Reporters without Borders in Paris, Emergency IT in Milan.

I’m always excited when projects allow me to meet new people and travel to new places.
